My full definition of CDDS includes two additional categories of blood sugar dysregulation. The first is the prediabetes category, which is defined by an FBS of 100–125. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), greater than one third of the general U.S. population is prediabetic, and 27% of Americans 65 and older have a diabetes diagnosis. The other category includes those with an FBS of less than 100 but who have postprandial spikes of 125–140 mg of glucose in the blood. Research shows these people with blood sugar regulation problems have a significant increase in all the degenerative diseases associated with CDDS, although they are not officially diabetic in traditional terms. CDDS includes increased rate of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetic neuropathy, pancreas dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, and cancer. As expected, the risk of developing Type-2 diabetes increased sevenfold in individuals with an FBS of 105–109, as compared to those with an FBS of 85 or less.
