My gaming review this week: So... Hearthstone. Blizzard excel at taking a standard type of game and polishing it into a gleaming money-making diamond, and Hearthstone is no exception. This time around they have gone for the card combat format as made famous by Magic: the Gathering and have delivered what is pretty much a clone in Warcraft make-up. Im amazed that Wizards of the Coasts lawyers havent slapped injunctions all over it already frankly. What they have done is take the basic idea, made it simpler, easier to learn, faster to play, and actually a ton of fun. I was really ready to hammer it after the first couple of plays because it was TOO simple, but after a couple more plays I realised how subtle it actually is. So yeah, for a free game on tablet or browser, absolutely top pick. Surprisingly groovy.
