My gggrandmother is my brick wall. Or rather getting past her is. Her name was Mary Gilchrist. She was born abt. 1825 in either Roxborough twp. Stormont co., or in Glengarry county. She married James McKercher/McKerchar in 1850/1 and had her eldest, Alexander, at the end of 1851. Their children were all born in Roxborough twp. They moved to Manitoba, where she died in 1885. Someone gave me a possible father, Gilbert, who would have been 14 at her birth, so I find him unlikely, esp. since none of her sons carried the name. I recently discovered a mention of a Christie Gilchrist and a Hugh Gilchrist (bro and sis ?) in 1834. Assuming Christie was Christine, those names match two of Marys children, and the Hugh doesnt match any of James siblings. Any ideas anyone? Thanks for any help in advance.
