My good friend Frank Fenter of Polydor was looking after Bobby - TopicsExpress

My good friend Frank Fenter of Polydor was looking after Bobby Darin when he came to London. Bobby said he wouldnt do any interviews, but Frank talked him into letting me do an interview, so I was invited to meet Bobby at Claridges. The interview appeared in Record Mirror. Then I got an invitation from Tommy, Bobbys PA to visit Bobby again at Claridges. Bobby told me that my interview was the best interview on him that had ever been published. He then gave me advice on a song Id written called The Green Fields of Earth and added a verse to it. Bobby said he was here to attend the premier of Stranger in the House. he said there was a private reception after the film, but hed like to take Virginia and me to dinner instead. He arranged to meet us at the Pickwick Club after the premier. When he arrived he took us to the most fashionable Italian restaurant in London for an amazing meal. There was a guitar on display and Bobby asked for it and sang 18 Yellow Roses for us. He then said hed rented a house in Belgravia and would like me and Virginia to stay with him, so we moved there. He was a great personality and we had lots of laughs. He then told us that he was taking us to Paris to meet Marlon Brando and Danny Kaye who were doing a Unicef concert. We went to Heathrow, but planes couldnt take off due to fog, so we went to the nearby Hilton hotel and had a meal, He was causing not only us, but other diners to laugh. The fog continued and then it became too late, so we drove back to Belgravia. Bobby also asked me to write the sleeve notes for his live album recorded by the BBC.
