My grandma was showing me some interesting information on her ancestors. Josephine Brezinski Michalek migrated to Alsace Lorraine from Poland and married John Michele/Michalek. She lost 5 children in 2 weeks in a plague, 1 boy 4 girls. The Micheles came to America in the 1860;s in part for a new start after losing their children, and in part because of Josephines concerns about antisemitism in the Alsace Lorraine (apparently there were some Jewish ancestors in her mothers family tree.) They settled in Kewanee, Wisconsin and changed their name to Michalek. I find it really interesting about a Jewish connection. Would love to learn more about that. Fiddler on the Roof always was one of my favorite movies.:)
