My grandmother has 18 grandkids (8 children, 21 great-grandchildren). Half (9) of her grandkids are here in America, in Los Angeles, others across the world but never far from her love and prayers. We, the fortunate ones, were by her side always, as she was always by ours. My cousin in Armenia expressed to me how we were the blessed ones to have her and how her pain is more intensified knowing she never had the chance to enjoy her as we did. I think my grandmother must have known her time was really short, as in these last few months, she knitted all her grandkids and great-grandkids clothes and scarves, something for us to keep in remembrance of her, knowing that the same hands that held our hearts are the same hands that painstakingly knit each of these pieces with love. I dont know about anyone elses grandmother, certainly there are grandmothers who love and are loved, but there is no grandmother in the world like OUR grandmother. If only you had the chance to taste her like we did. She was the kind of person that tasted like pure sweetness, nothing bitter to have to swallow, just so perfectly delightful. Some may not have known her value until now, that she is gone, but now we all know, now we all understand. I pray we will forgive one another, even those who have wronged her, so that we may be like our grandmother, who loved her enemies and never spoke an unkind word about anyone. If we love only those whom we deem worthy of love, then we dont know love at all. Grandmother loved EVERY single one of her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren; the good ones, the bad ones, the troubled ones, the lost ones, the found ones. Let us do the same.
