My grandmother passed away last night, while I was at home, surrounded by people that I love and value, and I think that that sort of juxtaposition strangely summarizes my 2014. I cried frequently this year, and whether it was under the prickle of hardship or through the inspiration of the love Ive felt from new faces and old, I have to feel like this was my best year. On paper, there were certainly stumbles. I screwed up, a lot. I pushed and pulled and destroyed, but at the very end, I could tally up far more blessings than blemishes. I found my child, love, pride, and a new family. I lost weight. I adopted positivity and made it mine. I am so glad for the Rae I am today, because Rae a year ago was so lost. I still have so many more lessons to learn, but if I have come away with one seed to plant, it is that growth is a perpetual cycle, and not a once a year deal. Im up to the challenge of continuing the cycle and Im excited. Happy New Year. And to my grandmother, where ever you are, I hope you that you know that you were loved. x
