My grandpa served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was assigned to the 994th Engineers Treadway Bridge Company, and during 1944 and 1945 he saw action in France, the Netherlands and Germany. He was proud of his country and of being a solider. It was and is an honor for me to have been able to know him and love him. Happy Veterans Day to all of those who serve and I thank you. Those of us who are not in the military really have no idea what its truly like to defend our country in that capacity.
