My grandparents keys to their home in the poconos. Something - TopicsExpress

My grandparents keys to their home in the poconos. Something old. Something so meaningful. Something that ties the past to my future. For without them where would I be or how would I be. I dont remember much if my grandfather as he passed on when I was young but I know he worked in the coal mines and in the watch towers of the poconos. I quess you could say we are mountain folk. One thing I do remember about my grandfather is the love of the animals. Feeding the chipmunks that would come up to him. He could put a peanut in his pocket or on him and they would come up to get it. My grandparents loved feeding those small animals, the deers as well as the birds. As for my grandmother she was a very simple person just like my grandfather and lived in that house for many many years after my grandfather passed away. I do remember the house was far back in the woods off the main road on this gravel road. There were a few surrounding homes about of other relatives. My grandparents home was heated by coal and had running spring water underneath if memories serves me correct. It was a home my grandfather built. Such a different way of life back then. Such a slower pace to appreciate everything. I remember my parents packing up my dads truck which had a small camper on the back of the truck and every weekend there we would go to the poconos.
