My great Uncle Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, a polymath of sorts and a rare security capo, wondered why many suggest the central bank governor resign or be sacked. He says that the Governor of the Central Bank is blameless in the sad story of the currency situation emanating from the badly handled forex situation , which has earned Ghana in the inglorious fame of the very few worst performing currencies in the world. He thinks anyone blaming the governor should actually be blaming globalisation and whoever heads it. MY REPLY: Sorry Uncle Larry, but in other lands, resignations for badly managing a an economic situation against all good advice is a norm especially with line and figureheads. In Parliamentary systems, this government would have been facing serious credibility and competency questions in parliament and a possible eclipse. But thank Goodness to a presidential system, we have a four year waiting period to decide if they stay or go. :) Some managers have even committed suicide as they cant stand the shame of their mess of managing peoples money and still others went to Jail. I understand here it is not part of our political culture. There is nothing global about this spectacle, you are only trying to pass the buck in a nice way.he he he he Uncle Larry Gbevlo-Lartey that oooo....I would have resigned really. Lets meet soon, Sir and discuss how we can strengthen local communities away from the political dance in Accra. You know I love that passion of yours.
