My great friend and "pops" Rudy Castellanos took these photos last March, shortly before the works were sold. The first, Archetype, his master work, is of a scale, detail, originality, and imagination that the spirit cannot deny. There is no turning away form this with indifference, when seen in person. One either loves it or hates it. There is no middle ground. That, was Charles Pfahl. The second ,was one of his last paintings and no less engrossing. The characters in each of these are of a raw power. They seize the viewer, even in their stillness. Thank you, 101/exhibit for introducing us to this great master.
