My heart goes out to an elderly couple today whose little chihuahua was bitten by a snake yesterday. They couldnt afford to take him to the vet because they live off social security. They called the Pet ER for advise but they wouldnt give any over the phone. They had to watch their little baby die in their arms all because they didnt have the damn money to save him. A persons ability to love and show compassion isnt measured by their pocketbook. Im so heartbroken that we live in a world where everything revolves around the almighty dollar. Not everyone has money to go on vacations, buy new vehicles, get their nails done, get their hair done, eat at fancy restaurants, go shopping just for fun, or even buy the basic necessities. Not everyone can afford the $75.00 fee it costs just to walk through the door of the Pet ER. People, especially our elderly, are truly suffering in todays economy. Yet we still live in an unbelievably selfish world where so few people are willing to give up their own selfish ways for even one day to help someone. Sharing wonderful things on Facebook that others have done doesnt make you a caring, giving person. So the next time you have that hour to think about things as you get your nails done, think about the elderly couple who buried their dog today because they couldnt afford the emergency vet nor the gas to get him to Lake Charles, think about the dogs and cats that will die this week in a shelter who might otherwise live if someone would adopt or foster them, think about the mother who cant feed her children or pay her rent, think about the homeless person that you dont see every single day as you pass them. Dont sit there and think about where the hell you are going to vacation next or which pair of shoes you want to buy or whatever. Im so tired of all the endless selfishness!!!
