My heart goes out to my old home, Ft Hood. That being said, The media needs to stop feeding the world misleading hypothesis that fuel the public witch hunt and stereotypes that hurt combat veterans in the civilian world. Coverage went from He was being treated for PTSD, to he was being evaluated, to he was being evaluated for a tbi but he was never wounded in country. Well, one does not need to be wounded to sustain a tbi, however, to be evaluated for one he had to annotate that- he sustained a blow to the head at one point that May or may not have caused loss of consciousness- on his post deployment health assessment (a questionnaire/survey). And whether or not he had actually undergone TBI evaluation has yet to be released. Until there is evidence from his medical jacket and support chain that points to PTSD, the media needs to cease leading the public on another crusade against all veterans based on one assholes actions. Furthermore, not to put down other service members deployments or Operation New Dawn, but given his occupational specialty and the temperament and climate of Iraq at the end of 11(during his 4 months), the argument for PTSD doesnt carry a lot of weight around the motor pool. Not hating, I was there then too, and thats why I can confidently say there was little to write home about.
