My heart goes out to the victims of the todays fire on Sumner Street. Everyone is safe now but a total of 19 people displaced and one is a two year old child. ZUMIX has been kind enough to offer shelter to some of the displaced folks while we help them. Im sending down some gift cards for Shaws to make sure the families have food to eat and my office will help coordinate donations. The Harborside Council will be the fiscal agent of a fund for the families. Contributions can be made directly to them with Sumner Street Fire Fund on the memo line. East Boston is a strong community and right now our neighbors need help - and we will get them what they need.
