My heart is FULL of joy and gratitude for last nights SingAlong - TopicsExpress

My heart is FULL of joy and gratitude for last nights SingAlong Messiah. What better way to mark the 10th anniversary of this event than to have the largest crowd we have ever had! Many thanks to everyone who came out to sing and/or listen. By no means is this a complete list, but I know that the audience-chorus included Kathy Berg, Polly Amborn (who had a huge weekend, with the big Feaste reunion the night before- Your presence meant the world to me), my father-in-law Bob Gall (who looked like he was having fun), Shannon Robertson and Colin Robertson (mother and son enjoying this marvelous work together), Derek Galvicius (all the way from McHenry, Illinois), Katie Kelso and Becky Whitefoot (two outstanding music teachers who have participated in past Singalongs with Musici Amici) and Kurt Chalgren (one of the best-known retired choral directors in the area) as well as Jim Furchow, who was one of the band directors at Tremper for many years (who donned his singers hat last night and sang with the basses) and Frank Germinaro, who unfortunately forgot his accordion … just to name most of the music teachers who were present. And my former voice students present (besides Derek) included David Duncan (Im so glad I caught sight of you- what a wonderful surprise!), Daryle Sturino (just back from college, in a nick of time!), Jason Martin (energetically singing up a storm of course), Mike McDonnell (who also came quite a long way), Andy Johnson (a past soloist in the Singalong Messiah, who graciously insisted on stepping aside so Nick could have this opportunity.) I was also excited to see one of my current Carthage voice students, Matt Burton, who made the trip from Burlington with his grandmother. Amidst the crowd were several Holy Communion senior choir members, including Gary Wee and Elaine Lewis. And there were all kinds of friends there, including Jackie Bladow, who also traveled a fair distance to be there. As for our soloists, they were outstanding! My warmest thanks to: Sarah Gorke, Jennifer Hansen, Libbi Bringer Weisinger, Nick Huff, Mike Anderle, and Elliot Nott. And many thanks to the superb musicians of the orchestra, assembled by Jessica Loomis DeBoer, who coordinates this event so skillfully and graciously. To one and all, my warmest thanks for helping to make last night such a splendid and uplifting experience.
