My heart is heavy today. I remember like it was yesterday. One of - TopicsExpress

My heart is heavy today. I remember like it was yesterday. One of the first times I attempted to do both craft and catering was this little TV special called Christmas, Together with The Barra MacNeils. Very shortly after call this tall, gangly fresh faced eager kid popped his head into my little corner of the studio to offer up his help. Anything you need, he said, just call for me. And he meant it. I would find out later when we talked about it that it was his first paying gig. I knew the moment we started talking that day that we would be friends for a very long time. It makes my heart very sore that our time has been cut short. I had the pleasure to see Matt Chisholm develop from a good kid into a fine man. In a business that can make people bitter and jaded, Matt never lost that childlike sense of wonder that was central to his personality. I could always count on him to make me smile and laugh no matter what the situation. Whether he was sporting the signature pink tie and greeting guests at The Candy Show or schlepping bags dripping with garbage juice he was smiling and genuinely happy to be working at something he loved. Matt was like my nerdy little brother and I loved him dearly. I still cant fathom that his grin will never grace my doorway again, that I wont ever get to see the Mac & Cheese dance, that we will never critique another gourmet burger joint together. I feel sad, angry and bitter that you were taken from us so suddenly and unfairly. But these are things Matt never was. So instead if letting that consume me, I will remember your charm, your ridiculous texts that made me laugh out loud, your genuine kindness, and that time we got drunk on the roof of the Dirty O and you accused me of being in the Illuminati. Goodnight, Handsome Matt.
