My heart is hurting right now. It is hard to read some of the things going on in the world today. Over in the Middle East, the condition of our own nation, the evilness happening in our cities and homes, the divisiveness within our nation and community, and now the clincher is when a dear friend publicly dists Christians and church goers when we have done nothing but help her in every situation throughout the last 5 years. Im so tired of hearing how aweful Christians are. I am tired of seeing comedians degrade and make fun of Christians. I am tired of hearing how judgmental and hypocritical we are. But who is the first group people run to when they need help? They run to a church. Then they hang out long enough to get what they want and need and start getting their life back on track, then they head off again never looking back only to be the first ones to say that Christians are judgmental and hypocritical. Sorry, but my heart is heavy. I know some absolutely amazing Christians that would do anything to help anyone. If there is any judging, it is to say that there is a difference between right and wrong and harmful or healing behavior. People who work tirelessly, with no pay, and no other motivation than that they love God and love people often times more than they love themselves. If anything, people see us as an easy target and take advantage of our goodness and compassion by lying and manipulation to get their own selfish needs met then walk away laughing at us as they go back to their dysfunctional lives. Sorry for ranting, but this pattern is seen way too many times within the church and by those who love to help people. We get burnt out and sometimes even cynical after awhile but we forgive and recover and keep on doing what we are doing because we love these people whom Christ died for. We want to do nothing more than to share the love of Christ to people and hope that they will turn to him to save them as he has us. It isnt about getting credit for our good works, it is about not being fullish enough to not bight the hand that feeds you when you are down and out. It is about possibly considering the fact that maybe all this social media brainwashing about how terrible Christians are just isnt true-maybe of some it is, but the majority not. It is about extending a little grace and mercy back to those who have extended grace and mercy to you when you needed it the most. Christians know they arent perfect, that is why we need Jesus. It is those who believe they are just fine and dont need help that think they are perfect. So dispense with the hypocrite crap and consider the fact that we all dont follow perfectly everything we believe. Like judging Christians as hypocritical when within that very act one is judging. Sorry, but I needed to vent. Still love you, just needed to address this.
