My heart shattered after hearing the news of Shirley Temples passing. I cannot even begin to tell you how influential Shirley was in my life. Most of you know that my grandmother Faye Pickler was very much the woman whom I called Mom and those of you that knew my grandmother knew of her health issues and disabilities. She was not able to get around easily and could only be on her feet for so long before the pain was unbearable. So one of my greatest childhood memories with my granny was watching Shirley Temple movies together. I remember when I was a little girl I would hop up on the back of my grannys chair, which was pushed up against the wall and sit on top of the chair with my back leaned against the wall playing beauty shop…Id put roller sets in my grandmas hair and in my hair too. After we achieved the perfect springy spiral curls I would give my best Shirley Temple impression singing and dancing for my grandma. Shirley Temples films were always a bright light in dark times. She brought joy and laughter to so many people all over the world...including my grandma and me..
