My heart weighs heavy today as I learned of the passing of a dear dear friend named Vernon Slaughter...Vernon and I had known each other since I worked at Waxie Maxies in the warehouse moving boxes and he was working for Columbia...As I moved on in my music career Vernon and I worked with each other crossing paths at various companies until we finally worked together at A&M....There was not a sweeter more likeable guy anywhere in the business than Vernon...He was old school to the core and believed that relationships were more important than adds( a record industry term)...As people would pass he would always use the term See Ya Later....Well Vernon, I unilike you cannot use that term as you will always remain fresh in my memories of the best things that happened to me in my life..Knowing you was an honor.....Rest in Peace My Friend...We will meet again...
