My heartfelt condolence to the family and friends of Nido. Can you - TopicsExpress

My heartfelt condolence to the family and friends of Nido. Can you imagine the mentality & value system of a group of grown men attacking an innocent, defenceless teenager with sticks and iron bars? This is yet again another distinct case of hate-crime. This has become extremely difficult for us who come from free and reverential society. This case is not an isolated one; there have been strings of such incidents and suppressed anger. Also, the deliberate denial mode and hatred among certain section of the mainland people against the NE people found its loudest expression in the murder of Nido Tania. Why are we always called Nepali, Chowmein, Momos etc? Several NE brothers who have laid down their lives in service of the Nation. They didnt die for Nepal...they fought and proudly gave up their lives for India! Mary Kom didnt fight for Chowmein or Momos...she fought for India! People need to realise that the NE in itself is a separate civilisation from the mainland people. Why is our history and culture not in the education syllabus? India is not India without us...it is Bharat. Learn to deal with us or else, Im afraid, this will only fuel the extremists and send the gap to an irreparable extend. The people of Bharat, their administration and Police officers need to know that they are not doing us any favour by allowing us to stay and study and work in Delhi. We have as much rights as them, if not more, as minorities and students in our capital city. Historically and till now, the people of Bharat denied and oppressed our rightfully claimed sovereignty and imposed Indian citizenship on us by means of diabolic laws and other terms foreign to us. And now are we being punished for our submission by making us reassert our Indian identity every now and then? The leadership needs to know that the NE people in Delhi and other cities are forward thinking people of the lot wholl one day go back home and present their experience of what is conceived to be hostile environment (Armys conduct). Time to act before its too late. It is rather shameful to know that National leaders, NGOs and commentators are only emphasising on 1984 and 2002. Next time before they speak of National Integration, they should remind themselves of their performance in and for the NE. Non delivery of justice system and repeat of such incidents, Im afraid, might compel the youths to retaliate & vent out their righteous anger with regrettable consequences. He stood up for all of us and was beaten to death. Nido will not die in vain; we will not rest until the system is awakened! RIP Nido Tania.
