My heartfelt condolences goes to the families and loved ones for MH370 flight victims. This serves as a reminder for us to cherish our loved ones especially when they are still alive. I believe many words unspoken, many sentences incomplete and many emotions hanging in the air for many family members who are affected by the tragedy. Whenever I am on a flight (especially taking off and landing), the feeling is like going through a surgery, dont know when your life is taken away by surprise. Many pilots and cabin crew probably feel the same way... We need to recognise that flight crew including cabin crew and pilots are important technical professionals not professional service crew in the airplane. They are not there to serve you because you are on a flight or business class. They are there to make sure you are safe and secure. More importantly to ensure flight compliance. Do you know that being a cabin crew is 8-12 times more tiring than a passenger, mentally and physically. If you think flying is tiring especially for long flight, remember you can choose to entertain yourself with the inflight entertainment or go and sleep... While a cabin crew cant... They rotate sleep, changeover, check safety, clear your mess in the toilet, remind you of your non compliance in a customer centric way yet they still get scolded for their inefficiency and service. The irritating part about some passengers is when they love going to the toilet when the seat belt sign is on and/or on their phone even before landing safely. Their actions can endanger the lives of many other passengers and crew. So the next time you are someone doing it, have the moral courage to tell them off on behalf of the cabin crew. Many lessons we can learnt from this tragedy and lets hope we can move forward and not criticise or speculate the investigation process and outcomes. While We may not in the shoes of the family members and loved ones on how they feel but certainly we want to grief together with them, letting them know that we felt their losses. I probably believe there were safety lapses for sure in the flight... It may be caused by negligence of the cabin crew or by ignorance of a passenger. Whatever it may be, most importantly in the future when you fly, respect the flight crew, respect safety so that you respect your own life. Dont be a pain to the crew when you are flying the next time. We all have a part to play on safety when we are on the plane. If you cant help, at least observe the rules and watch to the safety demonstration instead of thinking you already know what to do! So the next time you fly, assist the cabin crew and thank them first instead of they thank you... Prayerfully, DL, a fortnightly frequent flyer
