My holiday to California in Feb 2014 - Part 1. Since I have been back from holiday in California last month, I havent had chance to share with you my trip. I know there are a few people who really enjoy reading about my trips and I love to write about them and relive my memories. I lot of great things in Los Angeles then Las Vegas then San Francisco. I will share my experience in 3 parts from the 3 cities starting with Los Angeles. My family flew on Sunday 2nd Feb 2014 from Manchester - Atlanta - Los Angeles. Our main flight - the longest was late leaving. On the flight I saw 3 movies. Our connecting flight should have been 16:10 but due to the delay, we didnt get out of security until 16:20 so we missed our connection. We were on the waiting list for the 17:40 even though the flight was full. We may not have flown until the next day. Luckily for us,a group didnt show so we got the flight. Landed at L.A local time at 19:30. It was raining. Got a shuttle to our hotel in Hollywood - The Beverly Garland. The next day we had a really fun day at Universal Studios. There is a free shuttle to there from the hotel and it only takes 5 mins. From one of the hotel corridors we can see part of Universal Studios. As we walked round, so did Dracula and Beetlejuice and I had my photo taken with them. Various characters were walking round. We went to the Studios Tou. Saw fab King Kong and special effects with 3D glasses, Norman Bates and his motel, bits from Jurassic Park, famous locations from streets from many movies, back drops, earthquake, floods, and crash special effects. Awesome. Then onto Water World which was a water and fire special effects show, then through The House Of Horrors. Saw Chucky, Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman and others. Had lunch and then a special effects show and bought some souvenirs. Then went down a level to 2 rides. A Jurassic Park log flume wich was great. Another ride looked a bit too wild so we didnt go on it - The Mummy ride. We als saw a Shrek 4D andme and my brother went on a Simpsons Ride called Krustyland. Really enjoyed our day there. Back to the hotel for tea/supper. Our final 2 full days in L.A we had pre bought a 2 day Hop On Hop Off ticket on the buses. The first day we got our first bus to town where just nearby in the distance, we saw the famous Hollywood Sign which was awesome. We then got an open top bus and went all round. Went along Sunset Boulevard, The Sunset Strip to Beverly Hills, down Rodeo Drive which is the really expensive street with all the brand name shops. Got off near there to change buses where we went to Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Really niceplaces. Had a walk and lunch at Venice Beach and saw The Pacific Ocean. Lovely area. A couple of Sandra Bullock films parts were filmed there at Santa Monica - Speed and The Net. Got bus back to town via Brentford and Wilshire Boulevard. The film Volcano starring Tommy Lee Jones was based around there. Harrison Ford used to live in Brentford. Had tea at Johnny Rockets diner listening to oldies music. Then back to the hotel. The next day - Wednesday 5th Feb. Another day on and off the buses. Had a Starbucks from where we could see the Hollywood sign. Went around a lot of L.A and we got off the open top bus to The Farmers Market. We didnt go in the market but there was a really lovely place just by it called The Grove. Very pretty cafes and a dancing fountain, a lovely little bridge, nice gardens. Also a very pleasant free double decker trolley tram that went from one end of The Grove to The Farmers Market. We went on the whole little route there and back. Got another bus back to town and looked at some of the stars names on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame and saw Graumanns Chinese Theatre. Got another bus back to Universal Studios and we walked along City Walk with a row of shops and restaurant and cinema. City Walk is just outside Universal Studios. We had tea at a nice Italian restaurant called Wolfgang Pucks. Got the 7:15pm shuttle back to the hotel. Popped to Walgreens and the hotel shop. Also packed as we were going to Las Vegas the following morning. Had lots of fun in L.A. That is my L.A experience in brief but plenty of detail. Great to relive my memories.
