The slamming of the car door I raced to the window, my heart pounding .Watching…waiting It was dark now, but I could see his shadowy presence make its way towards the house And I remembered..Remembered All the other days, and other expectations of what was soon about to happen I could hear footsteps now… approaching My heart pounded. No mistaking it now . He’s here Anticipation of what was about to happen overwhelmed me I stood frozen in place as the door knob turned, and the door swung open Yes, He was here He’s here In an instant I leaped at him, Barking wildly Wagging my tail Smiling my biggest smile And again my senses were right He brought me home a burger
