My husband, Ernie Martin, got a lesson in PR today. When it looked like marriage equality would become the law of the land in Nevada I told him we needed to do something visible down at the Marriage License Bureau to promote his work as a wedding officiant when they started issuing licenses. Hes been a member of the LAMBDA Chamber of Commerce and weve supported the issue and our gay friends over the years. I suggested handing out roses as each couple came out with their licences. I decided 30 roses - because Nevada is the 30th state to enact marriage equality. I picked up the roses, then stopped at a craft store for rainbow ribbon and tied it on each rose. I stayed on top of the news story all day for when licenses would start being issued. As a result of being in the right place at the right time he not only handed out roses with his business card to 30 couples - he also was interviewed by the Las Vegas Review Journal, AP and Reuters.
