My husband Russell had the privilege of meeting 16 year old Jacob Miller while shooting Captain America 2 in Cleveland, Ohio. Jacob was living in the hospital awaiting a hear transplant. The nurses snuck him down in a wheel chair to catch a glimpse of the CA2 filming that was taking place on the property. Russell spoke to Jacob and his nurse for about 10 minutes and learned Jacob was a huge, Marvel fan. Russell left to work the set and when he returned Jacob had gone back to his room. Because Russell is well...Russell - he snuck into the hospital, tracked Jacob down and got permission to finish their conversation. When he entered Jacobs hospital room, hand-drawn pictures of Iron Man and all the Iron Man props covered the walls. (For those that dont know, Russell did all 3 Iron Man films.) Even though it was in theaters at the time, Jacob explained that he hadnt been able to see Iron Man 3 - his all time favorite film series - because he wasnt allowed to leave the hospital. Russell contacted Marvel brass, pulled some strings, and a few days later had a special copy of Iron Man 3, bought and set up a flat screen TV, and Jacob invited his close friends for a big Marvel bash - hospital style. Theyve been friends ever since. This is a video of Jacobs story - he just won the Courageous Kids award.
