My husband is a Type 2 diabetic and I am helping him keep track of his carb intake. They are also monitoring his kidneys (no damage yet) so he has to watch his sodium, potassium, calcium and phosphorus intake to prevent kidney stones and other damage. Kind of funny, the nutritionist he saw said that some so-called healthy foods are to be limited for his type of diet; stuff like whole grains. We try to stay away from processed foods as they are all high in bad stuff like sodium. We do treat ourselves once a week or so to fast food as I take the grandkids for Mickey Ds night only because they have a Play Place; I dont care for their food. Anyway, for those of us with Dumb Phones who cannot use an App, I found a good website for nutritional information on common foods. It has caloric info as well as info on 17 other items such as carbs, potassium, sodium, iron, etc etc. I printed me off a booklet to use at home but you can download it as a pdf. hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/nutrition/fiche-nutri-data/nutrient_value-valeurs_nutritives-eng.php
