My husbands letter that I know will be ignored: Ms. Thornton - TopicsExpress

My husbands letter that I know will be ignored: Ms. Thornton and Mr. Gooch: Im writing to you today because Id like to express my disgust with the board, Arthur S, Arthur T, and yourselves. I understand there is some strife within the Demoulas family. This has now blown into the potential demise of Market Basket. I have been a long time customer of the stores. My wife, mother, grandmother, and many other people I know have shopped with your stores. I along with tens of thousands of others have stopped shopping in your stores because of your treatment and way in which the removal of Artie T. occurred. I dont and wont pretend to know nor understand the background between the Demoulas. What I do know is because of this and the way in which you two have treated Artie T, and all of the employees is beyond words. The hard working Demoulas employees have temporarily walked out from their positions as a sign of solidarity. I could see you all taking the steps that have transpired, if the employees were asking for more pay or better benefits. THEY ARENT! All they want is to have their CEO back at the helm. Ms. Thornton, you are a headhunter. I mean all disrespect. You left your previous employer for personal issues. Everyone has personal issues, but they dont quit their jobs. I do not know what your personal issues are and dont care. My concerns are for the employees and stores. I do know with respect to some of your prior employments there have been many realignments which have taken place. It would appear youre on the same track with Market Basket. The Demoulas company has long, since its inception, taken care of their workers, customers and general public. Mr. Gooch, you sir should not be co-running Demoulas because from what I see, you were a major player with the demise of Radio Shack. Now it would appear you are on track to rid the northeast of Demoules. Just as I said to Ms. Thornton, my concerns are for the employees job security and the brash removal of Artie T. He took care of those whom worked for him as well as the public at large. The Demoulas family has always taken great care of the employees and many social service organizations. The way the board, Artie S, and you two have made this into a complete windfall, I have decided to no longer purchase anything from your stores until this matter has a successful resolution. The employees are absolutely correct. Artie T should be reinstated to his former position. Ive heard he made a more than generous bid to purchase the majority share in the company and you all have rejected his offer. I understand the purpose for business is to make money. At what cost are you willing to attempt to make Demoulas more profitable? The employees and public have sent a strong message. I just wish you were not so blinded by the all mighty dollar and could see the immense impact your decisions have made on Demoulas bottom line. From where I stand, the end of your fiscal second quarter and so far, beginning of your fiscal third quarter, you stand to lose at least 90% to 95% of the companys worth. I hope you all will listen to the employees, customers, elected officials and legal representatives that have reached out to you and been ignored, or given a prewritten scripted response. Besides unethical, your actions appear to have risen to violate federal and state labor laws. That in of itself has the potential to cripple not only your jobs, but the jobs of many others. Please listen to the masses and reinstate Artie T. Sincerely, Jim Taylor
