My in-laws met in an Italian prison in Yugoslavia, captured - TopicsExpress

My in-laws met in an Italian prison in Yugoslavia, captured because they were Jews. They survived, (thanks to the Italian prison commander!) kept alive in the end by Muslim peasants in Albania who said, All guests come from G-d. My wife was born in a displaced persons camp of survivors in Italy after the war. Tonight we went to a concert at Eastmans Kilbourn Hall, a program of music by Jewish composers, Holocaust victims most of whom did not survive. I think of all the artists, musicians, poets, writers whose work was incinerated, gifts due us all, that will never ever be known. Tonight was a night of fragments, but in the beautiful music we were lucky enough to hear, was wholeness. Bows.
