My initiatives / Campaign issues announced in tonights speech: 1- Creation of a Facebook suggestion page where we can poll campaign ideas (both academic and welfare) and where you guys can suggest ideas! This will allow you to increase your involvement in campaigns and ensure we run campaigns which Bowlanders want to back and thus mean they will hopefully be successful! E.g - Welfare campaign to tackle child poverty. Held during term 1, consist of three parts - 1)inter hall competition - mix of sporting and non sporting team games - pay £1 to compete all the money goes to charity, 2/3/4 years all join up with freshers from their old halls so provides opportunity of better integration! -2) Christmas Shoe box campaign -3) Animals bar crawl night out - dress up as animals, percentage of ticket cost would go to a chosen child poverty charity in the UK! 2- emails to be sent to freshers before they arrive to make them aware of the role of academic welfare officer and who we are and what we do! This would enable freshers to feel reassured of our presence and so they know how to contact us should they feel unable to talk to their reps about any issues!! 3- Campaign to try to better integrate international students -potential international awareness campaign one world (this wasnt mentioned much during my speech!)
