My inputs to the MCC Yangon meeting - TopicsExpress

My inputs to the MCC Yangon meeting 20-7-2014 ============================== We are prepared to make some compromises so long as all parties concerned are willing to keep their promises and our citizen rights are not violated. Our offers: 1. I am prepared to switch my account to a community page to be in line with Facebook T&Cs if it is necessary. 2. I am prepared to open a dialogue (through various telecommunication mediums if necessary) with any party concerned, including but not limited to the general public, Burmese Government, Facebook and Google, to define Hate Speech. 3. To my understanding, speeches, opinions, words, comments, views and critics on a personal account are not subject to Burmas current telecommunication laws as it would be in direct contradiction with 2008 constitution. 4. I am prepared to let go of my administrative status in some pages that are in contrary to Facebooks T&Cs. The situations in Burma is a unique one and anonymity still plays The Crucial role in its community. Although we, general publics, agree anonymity does not come without some detrimental and undesirable impacts on Burmese community, We believe the positives still trump over the negatives for the time being. _____________________ Khun Deerum (16-7-2014) #Facebook #Google #Burma #Meeting #MCC #Democracy #Freedom #Speech
