My internal email today - to the ABCs 4 Corners Program.... A few months ago I emailed you with my story as a failed S&N BHR device. I a member of a facebook site - THR News - whose members are all victims of Metal-on-Metal(MoM) devices. Some of whom are Johnson & Johnson DePuy Victims - for which you aired a repeat of a program The Walking Wounded on ABC24 on Sat. night. We, Australian S&N BHR victims have been left to fend for ourselves. The first Australian recipients of the S&N BHR had surgery starting at the beginning of 2000s. My first surgery was in 2003, while I was living in N.S.W. I was my surgeons first recipient. There are not as many victims here as in the UK & the US, and I together with a Qld gentleman -Dr. Earl Stevens (who started the THR News f/b site, and also a website - Dr. Earls View/Blog - where all our members have stemmed from), are instigating an enquiry into this. Only last month, Smith & Nephew decided to issue an Urgent Field Safety Notice in regard to the usage of the BHR. They now know (and we as victims have known for a few years now, the information that they are now making public), that this device was unsuitable for most of us.
