My jewish friend, artist and theatre-director Nirit Sommerfeld - TopicsExpress

My jewish friend, artist and theatre-director Nirit Sommerfeld here in Munich wrote this very personal and emotional words: Unfortunately, there was no concert at the Tel Aviv beach, nor joy nor much to enjoy. Lili and I spent some days in Israel and Palestine with friends, shooting music videos. And although we personally had a great time, I am again at the same point that I reached after the Gaza massacre of 2009. Completely disappointed, frustrated, full af anger and rage about whats going on and what my country does and what is NOT going to end because there is one clear reason and even the leading Israeli newspaper HAARETZ names it: Israel does not want peace. So when will we all understand that we are part of this bloody game?!? When are we going to stand together and step out of it and refuse?! Refuse to play this game, to believe we are the biggest victims in the world, to believe that all the world hates us, to believe that every non-Jew is an anti-semite, to believe we are suffering more than anyone else in the world?? Hows about looking at the facts of all sides instead of believing what they tell us since we ever and ever?! But looking and thinking and researching and resuming is exhausting and nobody - no Israeli government - is interested that people do so. So again: There is no will, not on the big and mighty majority side. And while I am writing these words another newborn baby in Gaza takes his first breath while his father, aunt or grandma were just killed or injured by an Israeli air strike. His lullaby will be sirens and detonations, his playground will be the rubble of his neighborhood, his farytales will be the martyr stories of his clan. And when he will be a teenager (if he gets to that age), his friends (those who have come to this age) will all have the same experiences. They will be the physically and mentally injured or traumatized young generation of Gazans, just like the ones who have reached this age in this very moment. Do you, Israel, expect from them to be the peace makers who then reach out their hands? Do we, the rest of the world, expect from them to be the rising sun of the Middle East, our hope, our future? Where does this violence lead us? Unfortunately, the answer is clear....
