My journey towards tomorrows election began in October 2012 with 15 pages of documents for my bank’s legal department. Months of discussion and review of two sets of ethics and policies (my employer’s and the City of Frederick’s) by my executives and counsel occurred in order for me to get the green light to file my candidacy for public office. I officially filed in April 2013. I am a full time employee, husband, father, and your candidate for Frederick’s Board of Alderman. As a first time candidate, I have had to work harder and smarter than others with political experience. Some candidates have a business team around them; I have had the assistance of family, friends, and supporters. I have filled the roles of advertiser, fundraiser, graphic designer, manager, marketing, media relations, planner, and web site builder within my campaign. The most important part of a campaign is meeting the citizens that determine the elected officials. I have visited close to 5,000 homes, mailed over 10,000 letters, responded to dozens of e-mail questions, been available at forums and debates, and sign waved. The journey has brought numerous positive discussions and concerns to my attention. I was introduced to multiple organizations that I look forward to joining and volunteering for in the near future. Elected officials make tough decisions. Right now, in your own household and in our community, proper financial decisions need to be made. Government begins with us at the local level. Ask yourself, which candidates are from the private sector and understand your tax payments support government? Which candidates understand that we need to provide public safety, increase business development, make fiscally sound decisions, and listen to your needs? Evaluate all ten aldermanic candidates and determine who will make these tough decisions. The journey has been rewarding and now I am ready to serve! I have heard your needs and worked hard to earn your vote since filing my candidacy. Thank you to every individual and business that has assisted along the way!
