My kids never knew their paternal granddaddy, my father Paul - TopicsExpress

My kids never knew their paternal granddaddy, my father Paul Sammon. This is my youngest, Micah, holding a photo of my dad taken at his Officer Candidate School graduation in 1943. He was promoted at a young age to Captain (22) and commanded an Engineer Company in WWII - Europe and the Pacific. He taught me that people are either good or bad for what they do, what they think, how they act, but never for what they look like on the outside. The second picture is of 1314th Engineer Regiment, Company A, taken in the spring of 1944 in Salisbury, England. Notice that my father, and 6 other White officers, are the only White people in the photo. Now that I have been a father for 20 years, I wish I could go back and be a better son.
