My laptop started having trouble a few weeks ago, requiring more frequent restarts despite 8 GB of RAM, and then last week the display started flickering and occasionally going out entirely. Was the computer overheating badly? I dont have any games or other software likely to cause a problem. I usually have an incredible number of windows open, but this has long been the case. This said, Chrome seemed to be hogging an incredible amount of memory, especially the tab with FB. But updating the graphics drivers (both the on-chip GPU and the dedicated nvidia card) and downloading the latest Windows 7 updates cleared everything up. Crazy.
