My last paper on Taoism for my masters this term submitted successfully (thanks Silja Frey for being my first-rate proofreader!); dads spirits high and breathing good; mom happily wearing some new spring clothes I bought for her yesterday; and looking forward to dinner with good friends Josh Cartin and Kara Cartin whom Ive know for about 25 years tonight. Todays little happinesses make me think that balance and continuity are workable after all in this life. And if the Taoist teachings are correct, life is made up of the 10,000 joys and the 10,000 sorrows. This grants us the perspective that while going through difficult times, we can also maintain a wider perspective of life and not contract against the many challenges that we all invariably face. Feeling grateful for the little and large joys in life today.
