My last submission on ODM politics and Luhya political - TopicsExpress

My last submission on ODM politics and Luhya political machinations. Good morning Kenyans. There has been a long political debate since Monday this week touching on Hon Ababu and the ODM party. I do hail from Busia county just like the subject. I am just that poor Marachi, a Luhya in that league. I am not objecting Ababu’s right to leave ODM whether with decency or amorphous rhythm. What I am now seeing a lot is UDF, URP and TNA bloggers celebrating, calling this my Busia big brother ‘hero’. If opposing Raila in public elevates someone to the heroism, then when I grow up, I will insult Raila to gain the fame. However, this is not the point I wanted to put a cross. Lets assume, Ababu is leaving ODM – assumption since himself has not defected officially. Is he heavy weight enough to give ODM a political blow? Is his timing valid? I say NO! I have read what Ababu said while in Kakamega county that if at all Raila cant trust him with SG post in ODM how will he trust his community (Luhya) when he ascends to presidency throne. Questions lingered in my head; so today, Ababu was holding Luhyas interests in ODM? I never knew this. New Gospel for sure. On Luhya perspective, I would have expected Ababu to soldier his relations in Ford Kenya under Wetangula. He would help Wetangula run FK party, bolster their Luhya grass roots support to weaken ODM. Then, if FK reaches a moment that now it wants to go separate ways from ODM, Ababu would have presented a valid, pregnant and horny political point across the Luhya nation explaining why he had to decamp from ODM. On this, he would have convinced me to follow him. I would not have even blinked a minute. The Luhya nation will have listened to him and joined his political band wagon. If only, this Budalangi legislator can swallow his arrogance ego as per now. If only he can re think, re evaluate his strategies, retreat in ODM and join FK, then his chances of ever commanding a Luhya voting block will remain a mirage. Coming home (Luhya) on board a non Luhya political ‘tuk tuk’ throwing blames and insults towards ODM and Raila wont salvage nor add any political bonga points to Ababu. He commands no political constituency apart from a section of his Budalangi voters. The questions remaining answered follows; Can Ababu swallow his ego and work under Wetangula? – By the way, it looks like he commands a huge ago that cant fit even in a probox car. In the last by election in Bungoma county pitting Wetangula (CORD) against Kombo (Jubilee), Ababu played insignificant role as compared to what Khalwale did. This was the beginning of good relations between Wetangula and Khalwale. Now can this Budalangi legislator accept to play second fiddle to Wetangula just the way Khalwale has done? Ni hayo tu. Mbarikiwe!
