My latest eBay purchase arrived today. From 1976, a Ronco as seen on TV record cleaner. When I opened the box and removed it I heard some rattling inside. Opened it up and the little pulley for the drive wheel was off and the drive belt looked like a womens hair tie and was too big. The cleaning pads were like a sponge. I found an o-ring to use as a drive belt and made up some micro fiber cleaning pads and gave it a spin. Alas, my modifications were too much for the 4 d cell battery system and the record wouldnt spin. Determined to make this work I then adapted a disc grinder chuck to the spindle hole of Joe Walsh - The Smoker You Are The Player You Get and spun the record with my cordless drill. And the result is very positive. This was by far my dirtiest and noisiest record and now it is quite listenable. Total cost, $15.
