My latest experiment. This time in the compositional style of pandiatonicism. In short, its the diatonic equivalent to the Twelve-Tone technique: both obscenely disregard the standard harmonic function we are taught in school. And I like it. Pandiatonicism anyways. Twelve-Tone can just leave.... About the piece.... Its supposed to represent what nostalgia feels like for me: warm, spacey, and beautifully tense. Though in the key of E minor, I intentionally avoid leading tones (except for the ending), and regular cadences such a V(7)-I. Instead, I let the emotion compose for me, and this is what happened. The modulation which was disgustingly inspired by Far From Heaven by Dream Theater, is supposed to be the moments in nostalgia that make you smile, feeling the euphoria. On a musical note, I got to use SOOOOOOOOOO many extended tertian chords and melodies~
