My letter to Central Valley School District. It is my hope that they resolve this issue because allowing children to get bullied with disabilities when they are unable to effectively defend themselves is not okay!! Please share, hopefully this will motivate them. Hi, my name is Danielle and my brother Malachi Beach attends evergreen middle school. During this school year alone he has been the victim of bullying by six children. He is autistic and the school has not handled this. My parents have reached out to the parents of the children involved and in some cases this has resulted in a solution but most recently it has not and the school is not stepping in. Due to his developmental disability he is an easy target for bullying. This is unfortunately a reoccurring issue that my family has grown accustomed to but it is not okay and the school needs to handle the situation. I am reaching out to you the district because reaching out to the school by both my parents has not resulted in anything. I realize that autism is something not everyone understands. My brother is taller than the average sixth grader and he is unable to articulate himself when explaining a situation to school faculty which for some reason makes faculty assume he is lying, because he is different, because he has a disability, and because he cannot articulate himself. My parents will be filing a formal complaint to your district offices in the coming days but it is my hope that you will step in prior to them doing so and resolve this issue and rebuild our faith in the districts capabilities.
