My letter to HBCC! Dear Mayor Harper and City Council - TopicsExpress

My letter to HBCC! Dear Mayor Harper and City Council Members, On Monday evening you voted 4-3 in favor of a city ordinance to grant permitted parking to a large area of downtown streets. I was shocked that you would even consider a vote on this ordinance with the myriad of problems that it contains. A political crony of several Council Members was involved in the following to create the parking permit ordinance: 1. Kim Kramer dreamed it up 2. HBDRA went door to door and lied to/bullied residents 3. From the documents it is clear most lack signatures/names and addresses were written in the same handwriting 4. This does not follow city code by advising all residents in the adjacent area 5. KK delivered it to the city in person 6. City employees verified the signatures would not be vetted 7. A huge hoopla ensued on Facebook 8. You ignored it 9. Legitimate challenges were sent to you regarding the legality of the entire ordinance 10. You ignored it again 11. The Monday night City Council meeting had more than 80 residents speak, most against 12. You ignored that, too When you voted in favor of your political donor pet project you should have known there would be blow back. This cannot go into effect next month there are too many questions and most of them are regarding illegal and back door activities. These residents don’t even know they will never again be able to have family or friends over without telling them to leave at 10pm or telling them they must park blocks away from their house! Today I heard a radio interview with Annie Choi, a 22 year old political activist in Hong Kong who is at the forefront of the protests in that provenance. I am paraphrasing because I was driving but she said the only function of a government official was to listen to the voice of the people and to respect that voice. Perfect and you did none of that. Annie Choi is only 22 years old and she is far wiser than any of you. I look forward to this ordinance being rescinded. Now. Resident since 1971, Sheila Hildreth Garland Proud Member of HBCF
