My letter to The i Paper today: Dear Sirs, Labour have launched a new attack on immigrants, most likely in response to UKIP-stealing fears. And what a tirade. To reclass what they say, lets put it in perspective; under Labour migrants (European and non European) would be denied food, shelter, safety and clothing. Did we fight two World Wars in Britain to treat those from other countries as devoid of human rights? Even under current regulations, a migrant spouse wont receive maternity benefits for five years, so our government is willingly endorsing starving children too. And its all very well for the wealthy, who might not move without savings. But for those in poverty, moving for a job might be the best option they have. And when it doesnt work out, we condemn them to a barren impoverished status? On the basis of their country of origin? That smacks of xenophobia to me, and to all decent people, I hope.
