My liberal political beliefs do not align with my friends who are Republicans. I read your posts and consider what they say. When I disagree I accept that you are entitled to your view just as I am mine. In the spirit of equal time I ask that you read this with an open mind. I saw an ad in which Greg Abott was asking for my vote to be Governor of Texas. He goes through a to-do list and one goal really caught my attention. His exact words were that he will “Unleash the Oil and Gas Industry”. I see no ‘leash’ which tethers them. They have wreaked havoc on our beautiful Gulf Coastline, fracking so much that we are having earth quakes in DFW, excessively use our drinking water supply during a drought when we are watching the grass turn brown, withheld dispensation of mineral rights to property owners, and contributed in a grand manner to the decimation of our global ecology. That is an incomplete and short list. God only knows what deeds they are responsible for that are kept undisclosed. If any industry needs a leash it is the oil and gas industry. The power they wield over government is truly anti-American. For that reason alone I will not be voting for Mr. Abott. On a more personal level, you might have seen a commercial against his campaign which sites his protecting a neurosurgeon whose patients died or were maimed. He intervened in three federal cases on the hospital’s side obviously influenced by Baylor (Scott & White) being one of his major campaign contributors. One of the victims was a librarian for the Garland School District and a friend of someone very close to me. The details are horrific and I have no doubt that if it were your family member that you would do everything within your power to see that he is not elected. Please look deep inside at what you value and consider your vote carefully.
