My little girl is 19 years young, an ex Arabian racer that I took - TopicsExpress

My little girl is 19 years young, an ex Arabian racer that I took on from having 5 years rest/no ridden work at 9 years old, after a year of re schooling, we realised after many visits from the vet and a trip for a scan at the vets in Newmarket she had a bone cyst on her stifle that was treated with a steroid injection, we had 10 years of light hacking together which was wonderful, she came on so well, from being virtually uncontrollable to a complete pleasure to be with. Shes now more up than she is down unfortunately so I retired her last October, the vet diagnosed a locking stifle caused by the bone cyst. She has to have bute every other day now (was twice a day when she was at her worst), she is kept out and also walked out gently as she loves being out and having a nose around, hates to see the the other ponies leave for a ride without her!! She has maxaflex and cod liver oil in her feed too. Interested to see if anyone else has experience of these problems and also any advice to help make my girl more comfy, shes the same in herself and never off her food but wondering if theres anything else I can do for her x
