My little home was built in 1941. It still has original kitchen - TopicsExpress

My little home was built in 1941. It still has original kitchen cabinets, and I’m pretty sure that even though the outside of them has been painted a thousand times, no one touched the inside of the cabinets. Now, I hate painting more than almost anything. It’s messy. I get paint in my hair. I get paint droplets everywhere. But I couldn’t bring myself to put food back in my kitchen cabinets after it had rats visit it without painting. Bleach and Lysol just didn’t work well enough. We never did figure out for sure how the rats got into the house. Anyway, today is the day for one of the kitchen cabinets (will have to do this in stages). That’s when I found it … standing tiptoe on my ladder, twisting awkwardly in order to lean way into the cabinet so I could reach the farthest corner, I found it … the cabinet walls and cabinet floor don’t come together. There a gap … not big, but I’m pretty sure it’s big enough for a rat. It’s like a little tunnel, open all the way down. There’s no way to see this without leaning way into the cabinet, so it’s been like this since the house was built! I have no idea how to fix this (and apparently no one else noticed in the last 72 years!), but I’ll give it some thought and come up with something. Before food goes back in there.
