My loving grandpO. We loved spending your 91st birthday with you - TopicsExpress

My loving grandpO. We loved spending your 91st birthday with you today. Hes talking to my daughter, asking her if she wants to know the wish he made. She says hes not supposed to tell anyone and he said okay, but I made a good one! He then wishes us all good health, that way we can all celebrate together in another hundred years, and many more to come. Wow..imagine the stories he can tell about the experiences he lived over 91 years of working hard and taking every day head on, no matter how challenging it may have been. He faced racism and segregation. He faced oppression and hardships. He faced everything head first while taking care of his wife and 11 children and grandchildren who are too many to count. Never once receiving any kind of welfare or assistance. He did it all on his own, started his own business, and bought his own house that he still lives in today. He did this all in a time when people of color had little to no rights and they definitely were not treated equally. And some of us have the nerve to complain about our lives and then want to give up and end it. All while having every equal opportunity and advantage in a world filled with technology and assistance, resources, you name it. But this man here and many like him have paved the way for us. They took the worst of the worst treatment and made it possible for us to have rights and a fair chance at life. So here he sits today, 91 years young, beautiful, strong, and at his birthday celebration he still thinks about his family first, makes wishes for our well being, and before blowing out the candles he again puts himself last, stopping to pray to God for his family, and gives his thanks for 91 years on earth. Wow! I love you grandpO. May we all learn a lesson today from Guadalupe Marcus Federico. This is the kind of man I want to be. Thank You Lord for this beautiful grandfather. I was blessed generations before I was even born, and I am blessed now and for many generations to come.
