My mom is a trooper and I am so proud of the way she handled her day today. I have had moments when I wasnt sure if her mind and attitude would stay strong through her challenge, but today, she showed me many times that she is not giving up and I found that so encouraging. She was still not able to come off ventilator and that is making her life a bit uncomfortable, because they are no longer administering any type of sedation medication. Positives: all her lab work numbers continue to show great improvement and every indication is that she will recover from this set back; we are fairly certain the bacteria discovered was from skin contamination and is NOT in her bloodstream; and she was more alert and responsive today with an agreeing attitude that she is going to get through this and that this is only a temporary trial. She has congestion in her chest that is breaking up and causing her to cough- this is uncomfortable and her lungs are a bit wheezy as well, so the doctor ordered some steroids and we are really hoping that this will allow the help needed for her to get good breaths, so she can get OFF the ventilator... This is the main prayer.. whatever needs to happen for her to breath effective, efficiently and independently would happen and she will be able to have the ventilator removed. Life would improve drastically to see this happen, so please pray for this. As she continues to endure through this, the time her body needs for healing and recuperating in order to get strong enough to attain this, pray that her spirit and determination to persevere through the discomfort will stay strong. But, I really ask that this happens tomorrow... I dont want her to have to keep going through all this... NOT FUN!!!!
