My mom just called me to inform me that a good friend of mine Little Joe Cooksey passed away today. Ya know I was sitting here thinking about how many friends I have had pass away. It seems like so many. I know as I grow older, that the number is only going to keep growing. Today makes me so much more grateful that I have turned my life around and now appreciate every single day as a gift. I remember during my six years as an addict when I would hear of friends deaths it would kind of go in one ear and out the other. I was so numbed by meth I couldnt feel anything. But since getting clean I know feel the emotions that as humans we are supposed to feel. It is bittersweet, although I am sad right now, I am thankful that by being clean, I can actually feel sad, and deal with my emotions the right way. Which is by allowing them to run their course and let time heal. And not by self medication. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of my friend Joseph Cooksey Jr.
