My morning rant: My FB feed is filled with rage, sorrow, and occasional insight regarding various conflicts around the globe. We can spout our opinions, argue our points, troll our FB friends, but in the end, until the citizens of these states are willing and able to convince their leaders to take a different path or throw those leaders out, nothing we or most folks say in the echo chamber of internet makes a damn bit of difference. Want to do something that will make a difference? Donate to organizations that promote the rule of law, a free press, government transparency and anti-corruption efforts. Only when governments are accountable to the citizens they send to fight and die in ill conceived or ill intentioned wars can we expect any real move towards ending such conflicts. No these organizations are not just CIA, NSA, whatever, fronts - please put away your tinfoil hat. Yes, we need just as much attention to these issues in the United States as well. An yes, I see the irony of posting this on my FB page. Rant complete.
