My mother... I believe my family is a reflection of many others - TopicsExpress

My mother... I believe my family is a reflection of many others – but I am not sure. In my family, my father is the provider - a person who sacrificed many things for his children and more importantly taught us all the importance of education and hard work. However, the binding force of my family is my mother – an uneducated lady, who came from a small village – and by the time she was 24, had given birth to 5 kids, lost one, and trying hard to manage the 4 naughty alive. While my father worked over time to provide us with a life, my mother, worked hard to manage four kids and run the house by juggling the budget, which always needed stretching. But my mother had a greater and more important role for us brothers while growing up – she was a “sink” for all our frustrations. Whenever things were not going good, whenever we were upset at father and did not have courage to shout at him – she was the target, who would take all the shouts and pressures and bring balance to our life. Today as a grown up, when I look back to all that transpired between me and my mother – I am amazed at the patience she exhibited and frustrations she endured. My father never got to know the “true” side of my life on account of my mother’s shielding my acts – otherwise I am sure, my father would have disowned me or probably killed me as well, through he is non-violent! ATLEAST I am sure, if I have had a kid like me – I would have… And as I get old and become more responsible - I feel the greater need for her... I guess, mother - our first love - can never be supplanted by all the other loves we have later...
